U.S. Pain Foundation’s Pain Connection has launched several new support groups. Four of the new groups are in-person: two have already begun meeting in Vancouver, WA, and Pascua Yaqui Tribe, AZ; two additional groups will begin meeting in Sacramento, CA, and in Bloomington, IN, in June and August, respectively. Full details are available on the Pain Connection website. In addition, the Pain Connection Live conference call support group is now meeting for a new, third session each month, on Saturdays at 11 am EST.

All of U.S Pain’s support group leaders receive specialized training led by Pain Connection Clinical Director Gwenn Herman, LCSW, DCSW. The next two-day training program will be held in Chicago, Illinois, on June 16 and 17. While the Chicago support group training is now full, another training will be held in New York City on Oct. 20 and 21. This training will be open to individuals in the following states: ME, DE, NH, VT, MA, RI, CT, NY, PA, NJ, and MD. Details and applications will be announced soon.

Scholarships to attend are available to U.S. Pain volunteers in good standing. After support group leaders complete the training program, they are asked to return to their home state and start up their very own support group. Pain Connection offers direction and guidance on how to successfully establish and develop a support group.
