Just in time for National Minority Health Month in April, the INvisible Project: Disparities edition is now available in print and online! 

This issue takes a close look at the multilayered challenges faced by people from marginalized communities who live with chronic pain. It includes profiles of 10 patients and articles from leading experts on topics ranging from ableism to how to handle discrimination in health care settings.

“The goal of the INvisible Project is to amplify the voices of the unheard,” says Nicole Hemmenway, CEO of U.S. Pain and director of the INvisible Project. “With that in mind, it seemed especially important to focus an entire issue on the pervasive and devastating problem of unequal health care treatment and access.”

To commemorate this edition, on April 8, U.S. Pain is hosting a Facebook Live event featuring Hemmenway; project manager and editorial consultant Rin-rin Yu, and editorial consultant and profilee Calvin Eaton. The speakers will share some behind-the-scenes details about the making of the issue, highlight interesting information about each patient featured, and discuss their favorite articles. 

The INvisible Project, U.S. Pain’s flagship program, is published 1-2 times per year; this is the 18th issue published since the program’s launch in 2010. Each edition focuses on a specific theme or disease state.
