At the U.S. Pain Foundation, we are always looking for innovative ways to support those living with chronic pain—and we believe this starts with our incredible volunteer network. For years, our volunteers have been at the forefront of promoting awareness about pain. Whether through setting up an educational table, reaching out to lawmakers, or sharing their personal experiences, our volunteers have been an integral part of making sure the voices of those with pain are heard.
We are thrilled to announce that our U.S. Pain Volunteer Network is stepping into an exciting new chapter! We’re expanding the ways in which you can get involved, collaborate, and grow with us as we continue to raise awareness and drive meaningful change. As always, we know we are strongest when we work together—so let’s explore the new opportunities to make an impact in the pain community. No matter your past experience, interests, availability, or capacity, there’s a meaningful way for you to make a change with us.
What’s New?
- Monthly Volunteer Network Meetings (Virtual & Optional)
We’re introducing monthly volunteer network meetings—an engaging and flexible opportunity to stay informed, connect with fellow volunteers, and participate at your own pace. These virtual meetings are designed for all volunteers, whether you’re a long-time participant or just beginning your journey. Each session will feature updates on upcoming opportunities, insights from fellow volunteers, and a chance to discuss your experiences and ideas. Join us as you’re able each month to further plug into this vibrant community dedicated to making a real difference. - Private Facebook Group
We’ve created a special private Facebook group just for our volunteers—a space where you can connect, share ideas, ask questions, and offer support to one another. This group will be an invaluable tool for fostering collaboration and creating a strong sense of camaraderie within our network. Not on Facebook? No problem! We’ll continue to send email updates and explore other ways to keep everyone informed and engaged, ensuring that all volunteers, regardless of platform preference, can stay connected and supported. - Michele Rice: Leading the Charge
We are excited to have Michele Rice, U.S. Pain’s Patient Engagement Lead, take the reins of our Volunteer Network. Michele’s passion for volunteering has given her a deep sense of purpose, and she is committed to nurturing the connection and community among our volunteers. With her extensive experience and heartfelt dedication to making a positive impact, Michele is eager to empower you to maximize your contributions. Under her leadership, we are confident that our Volunteer Network will not only grow but also thrive, as we work together to amplify our efforts and continue supporting those living with chronic pain.
What’s The Same?
We continue to offer a variety of opportunities to make a difference—from home or in-person—within your community and beyond. Here are just a couple ways to get involved:
- Set Up an Awareness Table: Be a Local Advocate
Host a table at libraries, health fairs, or local events to share our free resources and start conversations about chronic pain. Your outreach helps educate the community and raise awareness. - Deliver a Powerful Talk: Share Your Story
Help make chronic pain more relatable by speaking at local events or meetings. Sharing your personal experience can inspire and educate others, turning awareness into action. - Share Free U.S. Pain Materials: Help Raise Awareness
Distribute free U.S. Pain materials, like booklets and bracelets, in your community, at health care providers’ offices, or at awareness tables or events. These resources help spread vital information. - Take Action on Policy: Advocate for Change
Use U.S. Pain’s pre-written emails to easily contact your representatives about pain-related issues. You can also join us in direct advocacy efforts to influence policy affecting those living with pain. - Join or Share Our Events: Be Part of the Movement
Participate in our webinars, campaigns, and in-person events to raise awareness and foster community. Share these events with your networks to reach more individuals in need of support and education.
