
California peer-to-peer support group: incorporating researchers with support this Pain Awareness Month
This Pain Awareness Month, we are excited to have special guests from the NIH join our California peer-to-peer support group. On September 13, learn more about the efforts of the HEAL Initiative and a local pragmatic trial looking at acupuncture for chronic low back pain in older adults. Those presenting include:
🔍 Rebecca G. Baker, PhD, is the director of the Helping to End Addiction Long-term® Initiative, or NIH HEAL Initiative®, in the Office of the Director, NIH.
🔍 Lynn DeBar, PhD, MPH, is a clinical psychologist and behavioral health researcher who focuses on health care service needs of patients with chronic pain.
🔍 Andy Avins, MD, MPH, is a general internist and Research Scientist at the Kaiser Permanente, Northern California Division of Research.
🔍 Alice Pressman, PhD, MS, is a senior scientist with Sutter Health’s Pacific Medical Center Research Institute, and a research and evaluation consultant with Northern California Kaiser Permanente.
