Massachusetts peer-to-peer support group: incorporating researchers with support this Pain Awareness Month
September is Pain Awareness Month. This year, U.S. Pain aims to spotlight the need for more pain research to improve outcomes for millions of Americans. In collaboration with the National Institutes of Health’s Helping to End Addiction Long-term® (HEAL) Initiative, NIH researchers will join our online Massachusetts peer-to-peer support group.
On Friday, September 8, from 11am-12:30pm ET, support group facilitator and director of policy and advocacy for U.S. Pain, Cindy Steinberg, will be joined by special guests, NIH HEAL Director Rebecca G. Baker, PhD, and NIH researcher Natalia Morone, MD, MS, from Boston Medical Center. They will talk about the efforts of HEAL to address the unmet needs of chronic pain as well as current research on group-based mindfulness for chronic low back pain.
