Today, July 23, we are urging policymakers to support the Advancing Research for Chronic Pain Act, S.2922/H.R.7164, which is one of only a few bills ever introduced in Congress specifically for people with pain.
At the U.S. Pain Foundation, we believe that high-quality data is essential for identifying trends, risks, and consequences of pain. This data is also crucial for developing interventions to improve care and patient outcomes, while reducing health care costs in the United States. Unfortunately, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) does not regularly analyze or publish comprehensive population research data on pain like it does for other major diseases. This needs to change.
However, nothing will change for people with chronic pain unless Congress hears from YOU. Taking action is quick, empowering, and incredibly important in improving the lives of the more than 51.6 million Americans with chronic pain.
If you want to learn more about the bill and its impact for millions of Americans, you can watch the recording of our “Big Numbers and Why Pain Counts” webinar. This webinar featured Elizabeth Tapia, the Health Policy Advisor for Rep. Yadira Caraveo, M.D. (CO-08).

Together, let’s unite our voices to push this bill toward passage!
