Welcome to the INvisible Project

In 2010, Nicole Hemmenway joined a small organization that would later grow into the U.S. Pain Foundation. With a desire to amplify the voices of people with pain, the INvisible Project magazine was born.

Today, the INvisible Project serves as a powerful tool for awareness, advocacy, and education. It highlights the personal stories of individuals with chronic pain alongside expert insights. With over 20 issues published—covering themes like migraine, diabetes-related pain, autoimmune diseases, pediatric pain, and disparities—free copies are distributed nationwide to patients, caregivers, and health care providers.

Now led by former journalist Rebecca McKinsey, with Hemmenway remaining actively involved, the INvisible Project continues to inspire and inform. Explore past issues or order free print copies below, and be sure to subscribe to receive future editions. You can also scan the QR codes on any article in the print magazine to read it online, share it, or save it for later.

If you want to put a face on the invisible challenges you experience as a person living with chronic pain, we’re looking for participants to be featured in upcoming editions. Share your story with us here.
