This month’s Building Your Toolbox event will be Tuesday, March 2, at 7:30 pm ET and will feature mental health expert Lucy Dunning, Ed.S, LCMHCS. Dunning will discuss how virtual reality can be used to treat chronic pain and block pain signals from reaching the brain.

Building Your Toolbox is a monthly event held as a Zoom meeting so participants can see and directly interact with the speaker and one another. The meeting is guided by Pain Connection Clinical Director, Gwenn Herman, LCSW, DCSW, and long-time support group leader Bobbi Blades. After a short presentation by Dunning, participants will have the opportunity to ask their questions.

Dunning is a licensed clinical mental health counselor who has been in practice since 2008. She is the owner of Blue Sky Family Counseling and Coaching in Charlotte, North Carolina, and specializes in working with individuals with chronic pain and rare diseases. (She lives with peripheral neuropathy and complex regional pain syndrome type II.) She also attended the 2020 Pain Connection chronic pain support group leader training and runs a support group over Zoom for pain warriors who reside in the Carolinas.

Dunning is currently working on her PhD in Forensic Psychology with a concentration in Health Psychology.
